- Every deal checked against the cheapest Dutch shop before you buy
The problem
Deals are spread over many sites, and a deal is not always cheaper than a normal Dutch shop. Checking that by hand for every product takes time, especially in Black Friday week.
What we built
One search box that queries several deal sites at once, including Pepper NL, mydealz, Amazon.nl Warehouse and CheapShark, and merges the same product from different sites into one card. For each product it shows every Dutch shop’s price and shipping, a price history, and a “real deal?” badge that compares the deal with the cheapest Dutch shop. Matching is strict on brand, model, size, variant and year, and the badge is left out when the match is unsure.
A watchlist checks products every three hours and sends a push notification when the price reaches your target. In a shop, you can scan a barcode to see all Dutch online prices for that product.
How we built it
A Node.js server with no extra packages, installable on a phone like an app and reachable privately through Tailscale, where each person gets their own watchlist and alerts. Results are cached for ten minutes and popular searches refresh in the background, so searches stay fast. Offline tests cover the product-matching rules.
The result
Every deal is checked against the cheapest Dutch shop before you buy, and price drops on watched products arrive as a notification instead of a daily check.
