The problem
E-sports fans follow news across several sites and keep Twitch open in another tab to see who is live. The news is spread over HLTV, Dexerto, Dot Esports and others, and there is no simple way to hear the moment a favourite streamer starts.
What we built
FragZone, one place for five games. The news feed collects articles from the main e-sports sites, and each article can be read in full inside the app. The live page finds the top streamers for each game on Twitch, refreshes every 60 seconds and plays the stream in the page.
Signed-in users can follow streamers and get a push notification the moment one goes live. Articles can be saved without an account. The site installs like an app and keeps working offline.
How we built it
Next.js with React and TypeScript, and Supabase for sign-in and the follow lists. Twitch’s API supplies the live streams, Mozilla Readability extracts the full article text, and a scheduled job sends Web Push alerts and logs each one, so nobody gets the same alert twice.
The app degrades gracefully: without Twitch or Supabase it still loads, streams show an offline state and sign-in steps aside.
The result
News and live streams for CS2, Valorant, League of Legends, Fortnite and Warzone in one installable app, with an alert when it matters.
